Privacy Policy for MD Reader
MD Reader is a Chrome extension designed to display local Markdown files in a clean and readable Reader Mode.
Data Collection
MD Reader does not collect personal information, browsing history, authentication information, financial information, location information, or other user data.
The extension does not send Markdown file contents or browsing activity to the developer, external servers, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or third-party services.
Local Markdown Files
Markdown files with extensions such as
.md and .markdown
are processed locally inside your browser.
File contents are used only to render the document in MD Reader and remain on your device.
Local Storage
MD Reader may use Chrome's local storage functionality to save user interface preferences, including:
- selected light or dark theme;
- sidebar state;
- reading position for previously opened Markdown files.
These preferences remain stored locally in the browser and are not transmitted to the developer or third parties.
Remote Code and External Services
MD Reader does not use remote executable code.
Application code and required JavaScript libraries are packaged directly with the extension.
MD Reader does not use analytics services, advertising services, tracking technologies, or external APIs to process Markdown documents.
Data Sharing
MD Reader does not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
User information is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness decisions, lending purposes, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
Permissions
MD Reader requests only permissions necessary to provide its Markdown reading functionality.
The storage permission is used only to store local
user preferences and reading state.
Changes to This Policy
If MD Reader's functionality or data practices change in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those changes are released.
